In lieu of a traditional registry, we've created a special registry to help us with the honeymoon of our dreams - to the GREEK ISLANDS! The best wedding gift for us would be your contribution to any item listed below. You can make a gift of any amount towards any item. Or you can sponsor an entire item. It’s up to you! All gifts will be deeply appreciated and enjoyed.

We've booked our flight! We will fly out of Charlotte on July 1st and arrive in Athens on July 2nd after a layover at my FAVORITE airport (yes, there is such a thing) in Amsterdam! We'll fly back from Paris into Charlotte on July 13th.

We're spending two nights at CHIC HOTEL in the heart of Athens' famous Omonia Square. The rooms are complete with free wi-fi and a private bathroom (two not so common commodities in Europe)! We'll be only a short walk from Athens' many attractions.

If you know us at all, you know that the real reason we love to travel is to eat great food and drink great wine! Athens is a melting pot of Greek cuisine with specialties ranging from grilled octopus to caper salads to even lamb entrails! (Yummy!) Palia Taverna flaunts views of the Acropolis and Athens' rooftops and serves up some of the best authentic Greek cuisine Athens has to offer.

Taverna O Thespis is tucked away above the crowds along the stepped Thespidos lane with the floodlit walls of the Acropolis towering overhead. Specialties include bekri meze (pork with "flavorful" sauce) and a long list of Greek standards!

Souvlaki is grilled meat on a skewer, served on a plate or wrapped in a pita - and there's an entire street dedicated to it in Monastiraki Square! These "fast food" joints also sell meat shaved from gyros, Greek salads, wine, beer, and Ouzo.

Family owned Sholarhio Ouzeri Kouklis serves only small plates called mezedes (known internationally as mezes). This restaurant makes these Greek "tapas" their specialty - it's fun, inexpensive and ideal for travelers wanting to try a variety of traditional mezedes and drink homemade booze on an airy perch at the top of the Plaka.

Home of the Parthenon and many other historical landmarks, The Acropolis is one of the most historical sites in the world dating back to as early as 450 B.C. We're very excited to spend the day exploring the Parthenon, Temple of Zeus, Ancient Agora and the Acropolis Museum.

Avli Tou Thodori boasts one of the most spectacular views in all of Mykonos. Located just above Petinos Beach, the restaurant is best known for its incredibly fresh seafood (caught right off the coast) and one of the most hospitable wait-staffs in all of Greece. Complimentary dishes are the norm, and the owner gives tours of the kitchen to interested diners! Many travelers call this restaurant
the "best in all of Greece."

Katerina's is another island favorite boasting an impressive ocean-view. They're best known for their baked feta (OMG OMG OMG) and their Moussaka, which every waitor will recommend.

One of the most popular (and less expensive!) formal dining options on the island, M-eating is known for its perfectly executed traditional Greek cuisine. Their menu offers what is said to be some of the best stuffed mushrooms, salmon ravioli, and french cut lamb that exist!

Often described as the "best lunch in Mykonos," Fokos Taverna is located on Fokos Beach and is a jewel of Cycladic architecture. It's slightly off the beaten path, accessed by roads dotted with farmlands and wineries, and is praised for its peaceful atmosphere. Their menu features unique items such as tarama (made from fish roe), Mykonos'
famous Mostra cheese, and a
constantly changing wine list.

Our final dinner in Mykonos is sure to be a romantic, special, and delicious one! We'll dine at Bakalo, an intimate, modern Greek restaurant located in a traditional Mykonian style house in Lakka. Famous for its lamb shank, zucchini pies and kritharaki, their menu is packed with both traditional and one-of-a-kind Greek items. It's run by three friends from very different backgrounds who came together late in life
to offer the island an "authentic and
asthetically pleasing" restaurant.

Fato a Mano is another top lunch destination in Mykonos Town. Popular on their menu are the fried anchovies, chicken souvlaki, and free fruit plate (pictured on right). The wait-staff is noted as being the friendliest on the island, and the atmosphere, superb!

We'll take a short ferry ride to the island of Delos, one of the most important mythological, historic and archeological sites in Greece, perhaps, best known for its famous Row of Lions.

Exploring Mykonos Windmills: $50

A day spent exploring the trademark windmills, chapels and shops of beautiful Mykonos. The windmills are no longer in operation but remain the trademark of the island. Many have been renovated and some, such as the Bonis Windmill, have even been turned into museums!

Mykonos' Old Town is made for exploring. The piazza, Taxi Square, is a hub of activity with shopping, eating and magnificent views. The famously narrow, winding alleys were designed to ward of strong winds and pirates, and have since become some of the most photographed landmarks of Greece! Surrounding Old Town are harbors lined with fishermen cleaning and selling their catch (not to mention hungry cats) and a resident pelican
named Petros!

We're staying three nights at the spectacular Reverie Apartments in the village of Firostefani - a ten minute walk for the center of the island hub, Fira. It's a family run hotel with traditional island architecture and one of the most incredible views on the island.

Our first lunch in Santorini will be on the cliffside, overlooking Santorini's famous hot springs. Famous for their octopus rissoto, fava bean and pancetta bruschetta, and fresh daily specials, Assyrtico is celebrated for its innovative cuisine and true Greek hospitality.

Aegialos is the number one rated restaurant in all of Fira! Located literally ON the beach, the restaurant is a popular spot for travelers and locals alike. It is truly local cuisine, as much of the produce used is grown at the owner's family farm. They are known for their generosity, and have even given out an occasional free bottle of wine to guests
(perhaps honeymooners??).

Lunch at Lucky's Souvlakis: $30

Lucky's is a famous hole-in-the-wall located in central Fira. Known for their food on the go (and outstanding prices), many insist that seconds are a MUST! The resident chef cooks under an awning on the sidewalk, and sings along to the radio as he goes.

Palia Kameni is the highest rated bar on the island. Sunset chasers rate it the most beautiful (incomprable) spot in Greece to view a sunset, and the drinks are top notch. Everyone who's been insists that the bar cannot be missed - so we won't miss it! We're very excited to experience the famous Santorini sunset whilst sipping on delicious cocktails.

Those who eat at Naoussa usually can't resist going back again and again! The specialties of the house are fresh mussels in tomato sauce and feta, fresh sea bass on the grill, moussaka, and an assortment of fresh vegies. Located right at the main square of Fira, this island favorite is not to be missed.

Rated as one of the top restaurants on almost every travel site, Argo Taverna is a picture perfect restaurant located in the epicenter of Fira. Those who have eaten there, travel back to Santorini just to eat there again. Portions are plentiful, the fare unique, and seafood is their unrivaled specialty!

Pelican Kipos is home to one of the island's only wine bars! We'll enjoy a delicious lunch and a glass or two of Greek wine before we head off to our next destination. Their kabobs are "to die for," and their wine selection is endless!

This special day will be dedicated entirely to Greek wine. We'll start in Pirgos at Santo Wines for a tasting of 11 of the vineyard's wines, then move to Thira for a tour of the Koutsoyannopoulos Wine Museum and Winery and a short tasting of four wines, then we'll finish the day back in Firostefani for a tasting of 11 wines at the Siglas Domaine Winery. along the way at one of the listed wineries!

We're staying three nights at the charming Grand Hotel Leveque in the quaint Rue Cler district of Paris. The street is full of fresh flower markets, fish stands, a crepe shop, and bakeries. It is the quintessential cobblestone, romantic Parisian street!

Come on. We're in France. On a street LITTERED with bakeries. If we spend any less than $50 on croissants, baguettes and pastries, it would be a sin. But, seriously... look at that picture. Look at it! Would you want us to pass that up?!

Le Cafe de Mars is a five minute walk from our hotel. They're praised for having excellent steak, lamb and foie gras and outstanding deserts! The menu changes daily and the prices are said to be some of the most reasonable around! Listed as one of the top 150 restaurants in Paris (out of over 9,000), this restaurant can't be missed!

This restaurant comes highly recommeded by some very reliable foodie-friends. The wait-staff is incredibly friendly, the food outstanding, and the atmosphere buzzing. Top sellers on their menu include the escargot, foie gras, and even tripe - and if you think we're trying escargot, you hit the SNAIL on the head. (I'm bad)

Another recommendaiton by the reliable foodies, L'Ami Jean is one of the most highly acclaimed restaurants in Paris. Known for their crowded atmosphere and "bistronomique" style of cooking - the bistro serves up some great traditional standards, and some extra flavorful twists on traditional cuisine.

Our last night in Paris will be spent at Le Florimond, a favorite among the Parisian locals (and our foodie-friends, of course). Their menu changes frequently, but often features specials with figs, a wide variety of cheeses, and other gourmet ingredients. Only a four minute walk from our hotel and fifteen minutes from the Eiffel Tower, we plan to spend the last night soaking up all that Paris has to offer.
